　アルバム「Simple Gifts」のオープニング・チューンとして作曲させていただいた曲です（2026年8月リリース）。オーティス・マーフィー＆晴子・マーフィーご夫妻、そして日本から参加の蓼沼雅紀。華やかな技巧を持ちつつも、常に音楽から真摯な心が感じられるこのトリオのために一体どんな曲を？と考えたときに浮かんだのが、田舎風のダンス・ミュージックにバッハの「主よ、人の望みの喜びを」を重ね合わせるアイデアでした。
　激しく交錯する２本のサックスとピアノ。戯れ合い踊る８分の９拍子のジグは、純粋な喜びの表現です。しかし人生は喜ばしいことばかりではありません。不意に翳りを見せるハーモニーとバッハの旋律は、不安を乗り越えようとする人間の意志や信仰を象徴しています。様々な感情に突き動かされながらも私たちは前に進んで行く。そんなメッセージを込めたかったのです。
　なお、フラジオの名手のために高い音を普段より多く書きました。難しいと感じる場合には適宜オクターブ下げて演奏していただいて構いません。

This is the opening track from the album “Simple Gifts,” released in 2026. It is performed by Otis Murphy and Haruko Murphy, along with Masaki Tadenuma from Japan. The greatness of these three players… in my opinion, is that their music never loses its sincerity and purity,even with their display of brilliant technique. What should be the first music for such a trio to play? When I thought about this, the idea of superimposing Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desire” over rustic dance music came to my mind.
The two saxophones and piano intersect vigorously in the 􏍟/􏍞-metered gigue with the sound of playfulness and dance, expressing pure joy. However, life is not all about joy. The dark  harmony and Bach’s melody, which appears suddenly, symbolize the will and the faith of humans to overcome anxiety. Driven by various emotions, we must move forward!
I’ve included more high notes than usual for the virtuoso of altissimo. If you find them too difficult, feel free to play them an octave lower as needed.
